Warning: This post contains spoilers from season 3, episode 1 of Farmer Wants a Wife.
It’s officially time for a whole new group of farmers to find love! But, the journey has already been a bumpy whirlwind for some, to say the least.
In the opening moments of season 3, fans are quickly introduced to Farmer Matt Warren, Farmer Jay Woods, Farmer John Sansone and Farmer Colton Hendricks, all of whom provide a glimpse at their hopes for their overall outcome by the season’s end.
“Nobody’s meant to walk this Earth alone. So, I’m here to find the love of my life,” said Farmer John, 25.
His fellow season 3 leads share a similar sentiment, as Farmer Jay, also 25, noted that he already accomplished his “number one dream” to buy back his grandfather’s farm and now, he’s “just missing somebody to share all that with.” Farmer Matt, 30, after being “heartbroken in the past” is now “looking for somebody to be all in on this life, this farm and me.”

Additionally, Farmer Colton, 28, briefly opened up about being the father to a two-year-old boy. He then shared his desire to find someone who “understands a small town” and can “love” the father-son duo.
Of hundreds of applicants, the farmers got a chance to meet with 32 women who traveled from all across to U.S. to meet with them, and each lead had to subsequently narrow down the eight women vying for them before choosing the five women they would eventually invite back to their respective farms. Fortunately for the men, host Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who has stepped into the role once helmed by Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles, said she’s ready to “play Cupid.”
FARMERS SPEED DATES
Prospective contenders all gathered together to meet Farmer Matt, Farmer Jay, Farmer John and Farmer Colton, whom host Kimberly introduced to women. Kimberly advised them to “listen to your heart” before sending them off to differing areas to begin speed date rounds with their eight ladies.

Sparks were quickly flying for some, including Farmer Matt, who first met with Chelsi, 29. The pair not only bonded over her past experience with ranching and shared real estate background, but they were also quick to compliment each other during the smiley interaction. Noting to the cameras that they were both “staring into each other’s eyes,” Chelsi then told Matt that his dimples were “cute.” As she left, he quickly admitted: “She’s just drop-dead gorgeous. I can already tell you right now, she’s coming back.”
Julia, 22, was Farmer Jay’s first encounter, and she boldly presented a framed photo of herself donning a cowboy hat in a stringy swimsuit to show him she could “look the part.” Despite being caught off guard, he did ask her thoughts about farm life, and she immediately declared she was “not shoveling s—.” After she left, Jay noted that while he was “not complaining” about the unexpected photo, he “thought this was a family show.”
Meanwhile, Farmer Colton’s mind instantly “went blank” amid his first meeting with dance coach Keeley, 22. Despite not having questions in mind, the conversation was flowing — and she even taught him some dance. Afterward, he planted a kiss on her hand and they embraced in a hug. “I wish I would’ve saved her for last. Gosh, she is gorgeous,” he said as she walked away.
Farmer John, on the other hand, is looking for a “kindhearted” woman but his first meeting with Samantha, 24, was a rocky one. Before even heading his way, she declared to the other one pursuing him that John needed to meet her “standards.”
John was quick to compliment her “great eyes,” but Samantha questioned whether he had said something similar to the other women. Though he claimed he hadn’t, Samantha playfully called him out by saying “You’re lying,” which caught him off guard.
Even though she called John out for having a lack of interest in sports and made it a point to tell him she “barely got to ask” any questions, Samantha was still “very impressed” with how he handled himself. Still, “I’m just not for certain he’s for me yet,” she then told the cameras.

Viewers were then given glimpses at some of the farmers’ other first meetings, some of which appeared to be more unique than others. One woman brought a guitar as she prepared to sing a song during her date with Matt while another lady walked over to Colton with what appeared to be a cowbell.
However, one girl who was very “excited” to meet Matt, 29-year-old Halleh, said that she was “definitely not afraid to do what I have to do and step on toes because I’m here to find love.” She added, “So, I’m going to do everything I can in order to make that happen.”
Fortunately for Halleh, the pair got off to a great start. But no better start was had than with John and Lily, 25, as the pair even discussed aspirations for having a family. Additionally, Jay was completely at a loss for words while talking with Grace, 23, who he said quickly “caught my eye” as he expressed he was “glad” she came.
FIRST ELIMINATIONS
After getting through the ups and downs of the speed dating rounds, the farmers were now faced with a tough decision: it was time to choose which five women would be joining them on their respective farms.
However, this means three of their ladies would be sent home. “It’s going to be a lot harder than I thought it was gonna be,” Farmer Matt admitted to his fellow leads.
“I mean, eight women. You know, beautiful and they all got great personalities. It’s a super tough decision,” said Farmer Jay in response as Farmer John added, “I’m definitely nervous about sending home the wrong person. So, fellas, wish me some good luck.”

Farmer John invited Lily, Chloe, Kaylee, Claire and Samantha. He cut Lindsey, Taylor and Abby. His pick of Samantha was interesting as he referred to her as a “challenge,” which didn’t please her. She was even hesitant to step forward to accept his invitation. However, Samantha then told the cameras, “If I don’t get chosen for the solo date, I’m out the door.”
Farmer Jay selected T’yana, Viviane-Lee, Karina, Grace and Julia. Ultimately, Jackie, Kailee and Natalie were left behind.
Farmer Matt invited back Alexandra, Jordyn, Halleh, Rachel and Chelsi. He sent home Jordan, Christine and Olivia.
Farmer Colton chose Taylar, Bailee, Keeley, Zoe and Hope. With that, Makenzie, Rebecca and Kassandra had to head out.
ONE FINAL DECISION
Selecting their five women isn’t the only decision Farmer Matt, Farmer Jay, Farmer John and Farmer Colton had to make before the night was done. Host Kimberly Williams-Paisley then revealed: “Farmers, soon you’re going to head back to your farms where your ladies are going to join you and have a chance to hopefully start a lifelong romance. But now, you’ll just choose one lady to spend 24 hours of uninterrupted alone time.”
Farmer Matt picked Jordyn to join him on the farm early, while Farmer Jay chose Grace. Meanwhile, Farmer John selected Samantha first, meaning she didn’t have to “walk out” if she wasn’t chosen. Lastly, Farmer Colton invited Bailee for solo time and as the pair walked off, they shared a very passionate first kiss that gave her “butterflies.”
