Weekly poll results: the Nothing Phone (3a) is better value for money than its Pro sibling

Phones with better specs tend to do better in polls, but last week’s poll is a reminder that value-for-money can often be the most important factor – the Nothing Phone (3a) has the upper hand over its more capable but pricier sibling.

The Nothing Phone (3a) is proving to be popular, though not universally loved. We are working on a detailed review and maybe that will sway more people.

When comparing the two 3a models, a few people are interested in the Pro over the vanilla model, but the real threat is the flagship Nothing Phone (3a) – people sound quite excited for that one.

The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro costs noticeably more than its vanilla sibling and therein lies the issue. It has the better telephoto camera (70mm periscope vs. 50mm lens) and a better selfie camera (50MP 4K vs. 32MP 1080p) and that’s about it, unless eSIM is a must-have. In some regions, the Pro is available only in 12/256GB configuration, which leaves a wide 40% gap to the base (3a), which is also available in 8/128GB configuration.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is fine on a €330 phone, but its performance is lacking at the €460 price point of the Pro. As for criticisms towards both models, the 8MP ultra-wide camera is quite basic – and a big departure from the 50MP unit on the (2a) and (2a) Plus.

The Nothing Phone (3a) is already on sale (has been for over a week now), while the Pro model is launching early next week. After that, we hope to get more details about the flagship Phone (3).
