The 144th FA Cup final will decide who succeeds Manchester United as the champions of England’s most high-profile cup competition.
Forty-four teams have lifted the trophy since the game was first held in 1872, with an attendance of more than 126,000 fans watching the contest at the old Wembley Stadium in 1923.
Bolton Wanderers beat West Ham on that occasion as the final returned to Wembley after three seasons at Stamford Bridge, and it has been held there almost exclusively ever since, although one of the exceptions to that rule came during six seasons at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium before the new Wembley Stadium first hosted the match in 2006.

FA Cup final: Date, kickoff time
The FA Cup final 2025 will take place on May 17.
United recorded a surprisingly comfortable 2-1 win over Manchester City in last season’s decider, belying their form across the season in other competitions to beat the Premier League champions.
As was the case when City beat United by the same scoreline in the previous season’s final, kick-off was at 15:00 GMT. However, the game started at a different time between 2012 and 2023, so it could change again this season.
The start time for the 2023/24 final was announced on April 23, with an announcement around that date possible for 2024/25.
