iOS 18.4 is expected in early April, but developers gain access to it today with the release of the iOS 18.4 Release Candidate (RC). The RC has a build number 22E239. Unless there are major issues, this should be the last step before the wide rollout.
iOS 18.4 will bring Priority Notifications – AI will determine which notifications are important and will push them to a designated section on the lock screen. Speaking of AI, Apple Intelligence will be expanded to new regions and languages: French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (simplified). The older iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will gain access to the Visual Intelligence feature.
The new software will also add Ambient Music Controls – these are simple modes (Sleep, Chill, Productivity and Wellbeing), each of which will launch a particular user-selected playlist. There will be new apps and updates like a Food section for News+ (curated articles and recipes for foodies) and a new Vision Pro app (which will help Vision Pro owners to discover new XR content on their phones and queue it for download).
In addition to iOS 18.4, developers can also download release candidates for iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, tvOS 18.4 and visionOS 2.4.
