Nothing is back with a new Community Edition Project for the Phone (3a). This time, participants will get four different briefs to compete for, including design, accessories, software, and marketing campaign.
Participants will have from March 26 to April 23 to submit their ideas. They will have four new aforementioned briefs to compete in. In the Hardware Design brief, participants will have to submit ideas for the new look and feel of the Phone (3a). In the Accessory Design brief, participants will have to come up with an exclusive collectible or accessory that will ship with the Phone (3a) Community Edition. The Software Design brief will require designing unique new UI elements such as wallpapers, widgets, icon packs, etc. Finally, the Marketing Campaign requires coming up with a creative proposal that informs deliverables such as key visuals, a launch moment, or an event.

The winners of each brief will get to collaborate with the Nothing team to bring the Phone (3a) Community Edition to life. They will also be walking away with a cool £1,000 cash prize.
The 2025 Community Edition Project by Nothing is the second of its kind. The company had a similar event last year for the Phone (2a) Plus, which resulted in the glow-in-the-dark edition. A 1000-unit limited run of the device sold out in 15 minutes and also won a Gold iF Design Award.
