The 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards brought some of Hollywood’s brightest stars out.
Hosted by Michael Urie, the ceremony took place on Thursday, March 27 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. The annual event celebrates creators who have released art that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community.
“It was so many amazing people out there,” Urie told PEOPLE about the event. “The crowd was so hot, so just on fire.”
“I’ve always wanted to do that,” he continued. “And it was kind of like a dreamy little night. It was very special. I had so many different looks and got to see so many old friends and yeah, I feel like we needed a night like this.”
“The community needed a night to celebrate and remind ourselves that even though there’s a lot of tough stuff in the world right now, there’s also a lot of amazing work being done and people are still doing, they’re still walking the walk and tonight was a really good reminder of that,” the actor and director added.

Morris discussed her forthcoming album Dreamsicle, her first studio album after her divorce from Ryan Hurd. She told PEOPLE that the project involved taking some risks.
“I mean, I feel like if it doesn’t feel like a risk, it’s probably not worth doing. So I tried to leave enough on the bone to satisfy my healing, but also I’m not here to make a villain out of anyone or a hero out of myself. We all have both inside of us, and so I just wanted to tell whatever would heal my heart. And so that’s my aim here,” she said.
