Oliver Glasner was full of praise for Eberechi Eze after he provided a goal and an assist in Crystal Palace’s FA Cup win over Fulham, but admitted the playmaker has had a “strange” season.
Capping off a fine week in which in scored his first senior England goal, Eze netted a sublime strike before setting up Ismaila Sarr as Palace ran out 3-0 winners to progress to the semi-final.
Eze opened the scoring at Craven Cottage when he cut in from the left and produced a curling effort that his manager described as “an amazing finish”.
The 26-year-old then turned provider, crossing for Sarr to double the visitor’s lead. Substitute Eddie Nketiah added a third in the second-half to book Palace’s place in the last four.

Eze has scored just twice in the Premier League this term and produced six assists. But Glasner was quick to recognise the contribution of his star man.
“I think Ebbs [Eze] has had quite a strange season because he has not really many goals in the Premier League, but he had so many chances,” Glasner said.
“He was so unlucky in many situations. He had disallowed goals, deflected balls, hitting the post, everything, but he always keeps going.
“He struggled with some injuries, also strange injuries with his foot and something. I think also the goal against Latvia, his first goal for England, means a lot for him as a person and helped him.
“He always has the confidence. We all know that he has an amazing finish and that he can cut in on his right foot and I think against Latvia, he scored in the near post. Here, it was an amazing finish on the far post.
“We need this quality, every team needs this quality, especially in the finishing. It helped us today, it helped us definitely.”
Next up for Palace is a return to Premier League action when they travel to bottom club Southampton on Wednesday.
