Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has played down speculation he could replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur, insisting he is happy at the south coast club.

The Spaniard has garnered numerous admirers since taking over from Gary O’Neil in 2023. He guided the Cherries to a 12th place finish in the Premier League last term and this season Bournemouth find themselves just five points off the top four having already recorded victories against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Iraola’s men host Manchester City in the FA Cup on Sunday, with a place at Wembley and the semi-finals at stake. The Dorset club have the chance to make history with a win, having never reached the last four of the competition.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou has endured a tough time in his second season at Spurs. The Lilywhites are currently in 14th spot having spent a significant part of the season with a lengthy injury list.

Postecoglou’s side remain in contention to win the Europa League, however, pressure has failed to ease on the Australian manager, whose future at Tottenham is far from secure.

Amid rumours he could soon replace Postecoglou, Iraola said his focus is solely on his current employers.

“I want to do my job the best I can. I don’t know how far we can go, where we will finish,” he said ahead of the clash with Pep Guardiola’s side.

“If I don’t do the job very well, they [Bournemouth] will find someone else who does the job – it is like this in every job.

“I am really happy here. We have a great opportunity for the first time in the [club’s] history to go to the semi-finals. That would be amazing for me personally and for the club to achieve new heights.

“But we know that we have to also be realistic, that there are better teams than us and we have to fight against teams that are very good, so we will try to give the best level we have.”

There was, however, some movement at Bournemouth this week as the first team trained at their new 57-acre, state-of-the-art performance centre for the first time.

The new training venue, which includes an indoor dome and rehabilitation facilities, is a sign of intent from the Cherries and one that their manager has been impressed by.

“It has been a big change for us,” said the 42-year-old.

“We still have to familiarise, but obviously it is a big improvement for the team and for the club. [Making the change] during the season sometimes is not the best moment, but I think this break has been very good to do it and you can see from the faces of the players.

“The pitches are perfect – we have all the tools we need. The most important thing is the football, but at least we cannot now use any other excuses because we have the best tools.”

Bournemouth take on Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final, with kick-off at 4.30pm UK time.
