Vivo and Amazon India are preparing to launch a new camera-focused mid-ranger, the vivo V50e. The phone already has a landing page on vivo.com and amazon.in, which reveals its design and its key features.

The design is similar to that of the vivo S20, though the two phones are not the same. The V50e has a quad-curved display, something available only on the S20 Pro (the S20 has a flat display).

Staying at the front, the vivo V50e has a 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera with 0.8x and 1.0x modes (the wider mode is 106°, according to the fine print). The phone will include a feature dubbed “Wedding Portrait Studio”, which applies fun filters and frames (this feature is also available on the V50).

The main camera on the back is based on a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor (1/2”) with OIS. vivo describes this as a “multi-focal camera” as it has 1x, 1.5x and 2x modes for portrait shots.

The V50e is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance (against submersion and hot water jets), which is better than both S20 phones (they only have IP64, the same as the V40e). The phone has been given an SGS Five-Star rating for drop resistance (it has survived 42,000 drop tests that simulate all sorts of scenarios).

We mentioned that the vivo V50e has a similar design to the S20, however, the hardware isn’t the same. From a benchmark we already know that the chipset will be different and we noted the higher IP rating. There might be other changes too, we will find out soon.
