“It has been an honor and a privilege to be here at Inside for all these years,” Norville said. “A milestone like this is a time for reflection and on reflection, I’ve decided that now is the time for me to move on from Inside Edition.”

Following her announcement, Norville shared a corresponding update on Instagram and took a moment to reflect on the last three decades, saying, “When I started this job, Bill Clinton was president, O.J. Simpson was on trial for murder and Forrest Gump was about to win big at the Oscars.”

“I also want to say to you what an honor it has been for me to front the show for all these years,” she continued.

Following her announcement on the April 2 broadcast, Norville shared an update on Instagram and expressed her appreciation, writing, “It’s been an amazing ride and I will leave with gratitude for the people I have worked with and for – and the viewers who have watched.”

She also gave some more insight into her exit, explaining that after 30 years, it was “time to do something new.”

“Twice before I made career moves for personal reasons (Chicago to NBC News in NY, CBS News to Inside Edition) and they were the right decisions,” Norville wrote. “This decision is also motivated by family … and I know it it’s a good one. There’s lots more to come from me … just from a new place.”

Norville also explained why she wouldn’t stay despite the “lovely offer” she received from the network, saying, “There are things I’d like to do, places I want to do them that continuing here don’t permit.”

When is Deborah Norville leaving Inside Edition?

Norville isn’t leaving Inside Edition just yet — the longtime host shared that she would be “moving on” at the end of the current season.

“I’ve got some exciting things in the work, and I’ll talk about that later,” she said during the April 2 broadcast. “But what I want to say right now is what a privilege it has been to lead Inside Edition for all of these years, to work with the incredibly talented team here and to be invited into your homes every day. It’s an honor I don’t take lightly.”

In her Instagram update, Norville shared that while staying at Inside Edition would have been the “easy thing” to do, she felt confident in her decision to leave.

“I am so excited for what’s to come,” the host said.

The veteran host might be leaving Inside Edition, but she isn’t exiting the television world completely.

In December 2024, Variety reported that Norville will serve as the host of trivia game show The Perfect Line, which is set to premiere in the fall of 2025.

Following the announcement, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations Wendy McMahon shared a statement about Norville’s role, saying, “Deborah is a natural hosting this show — her wit and charm resonate with audiences,” per Variety.

According to Deadline, the show is “a new, visual take on trivia,” with a format that covers a wide range of topics, from world events to pop culture moments.
