Benny Blanco Has a Priceless Reaction to Being Mistaken for Bad Bunny

To Benny Blanco, being compared to Bad Bunny quite the compliment!

On Monday, April 7, the producer made an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show and was asked about a mishap at the Oscars where he was mistaken for the Puerto Rican star.

“They did?” Blanco, 37, said to Hudson when she brought up the moment.

Last month, a photo of Blanco and fiancée Selena Gomez was mistakenly captioned “Selena Gomez and Bad Bunny” on The Academy’s official X account. The post was quickly edited — though screenshots in the reply section show the original post.

“I like that,” Blanco said. “What do you mean? He’s so hot! I’ll take it, I’ll take it. What do you mean?”

“Look at how pretty he is — are you kidding?” Blanco continued, looking at a photo of the “DtMF” singer, 31. “Yeah, I’m Bad Bunny now.”

Blanco’s appearance on the show comes after the release of his collaborative album with Gomez, I Said I Love You First, on March 21.

During an episode of Spotify’s Countdown To series, the couple opened up about the writing process for the album — and Gomez, 32, said Blanco served as her “personal journal.”

“I was just, constantly writing whatever you said, wherever we were,” said Blanco. “Sometimes you’d be saying something, like, really important, and I would — I didn’t know if you even realized — but I would open my phone and be like, ‘F—, that’s such a good line for a song.”

“But I was very — you know me. I could just sit there and talk…it didn’t bother me, if that’s what you’re asking,” Gomez added with a laugh.

The couple, who got engaged in December 2024, told Rolling Stone they were more focused on releasing music than planning a wedding on March 17.

“I think every day she’s planned a new wedding in her head,” Blanco told the outlet. “We’re very much ‘take it one day at a time’-type of people. We’re still not over this moment. Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring.”

Gomez added, “Also, I genuinely feel like this is such a special time that we get to apply it to this album and really just pour our heart into it, and completely translate what we feel and bring it to the world. That’s my main focus right now, at least.”

Per a press release, the album gives fans “a unique window into their relationship.”

“This album came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively, allowing them to produce art that authentically reflects their experiences,” the press release added. “It chronicles their entire story—before they met, falling in love and looking to what the future holds.”
