The CMF Buds 2 jumped to the head of the queue when they were unveiled a couple of weeks ago, but today is the proper launch of CMF’s new TWS buds with a total of three models at three different price points.

The CMF Buds 2 have 11mm drivers with Dirac Opteo tuning. They feature 48dB Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) in a 5,200Hz range. The buds can last up to 13.5 hours (with ANC off) and total listening time with the case is 55 hours.

The CMF Buds 2 Plus are just $10 more, but they bring meaningful improvements over the vanilla model. For one, their ANC is better than even the Buds Pro 2 – 50dB in a 5,400Hz range compared to 50dB 5,000Hz. The Plus and Pro also have Smart Adaptive Mode, which isn’t available on the Buds 2.

This model also promises superior audio quality with 12mm drivers and support for the LDAC codec, plus a Hi-Res Audio certification.

The Plus buds also have the best battery life of the 2-series lineup – up to 14 hours for the buds (ANC off) and up to 61.5 hours total with the case. They also have the lowest low-latency mode, though it’s not all that low at 105ms (when connected to a phone running Nothing OS).

The CMF Buds 2 and Buds 2 Plus have an IP55 dust and water resistance rating. They have six microphones (three on each bud) with Wind Noise Reduction 3.0 and Clear Voice Technology 3.0.

The CMF Buds 2a are $10 less than the vanilla model and they make some sacrifices to make that price point. They have 12.4mm drivers and Dirac tuning. ANC is available, but it only cancels 42dB of noise and it does so using four microphones (two per bud) with older noise reduction tech.

Also, the battery life is lower – up to 8 hours for just the buds (ANC off) and up to 35.5 hours total with the case. Finally, the water resistance drops to IP54.

All CMF buds can be configured using the Nothing X app – you can adjust the EQ and Ultra Bass level, switch ANC levels, use multi-point connectivity, activate low-latency mode and summon ChatGPT.
