Mikel Arteta has said he “corrected” a problem after Ousmane Dembele scored the winner in their Champions League semi-final first leg defeat at home to Paris Saint-Germain – but the Arsenal manager attempted to keep the details secret.
PSG top scorer Dembele struck first time from the edge of the box as part of a dominant start for the visitors before Arsenal threatened to equalise either side of half-time.
“We had, especially, one issue that we corrected after 15-20 minutes,” said the Spaniard. “We sustained that for the rest of the game and it turned the game around.
“I’m not telling you [what]. It was an issue we had with the ball in a specific moment. If you don’t have the chance to press them, they’re going to bring all the midfielders back and you’re going to struggle, because that’s what they want.
“It was not a lot – it was just something very specific but important, especially to the way we play. It’s not easy to correct it constantly, but we did it.”

PSG vs Arsenal: ‘We have chances’
Paris have won 18 of the 19 ties in which they have recorded a first-leg away victory, the exception coming when they lost against Manchester United in the 2018/19 round of 16 on the now-defunct away goals rule.
Arsenal’s task looks daunting against opponents who have already knocked out Aston Villa and Liverpool, but they beat PSG 2-0 at home during the league phase and the Reds and Atletico Madrid have won at the Parc des Princes during this season’s competition.
“We have a lot of chances to be in that final,” said Arteta, whose team thrashed holders Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
“If you want to be in the Champions League final, you have to do something special – and the time to do it is going to be in Paris.”

Arsenal vs PSG: Margins ‘so thin’
Arsenal could be heading to the second leg on May 7 (20:00 BST) level, having had a Mikel Merino header ruled out for offside two minutes after the break.
PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma produced his latest outstanding display, brilliantly turning away shots from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
“The game had phases,” reflected Arteta. “They scored from great combination play, when the margins are so thin and the finish is unbelievable.
“We had the disallowed goal and two big situations in the game that, unfortunately, didn’t go our way.”
The winners of the tie will advance to a final against Barcelona or Inter, who play the first leg of their semi-final in Spain on Wednesday (20:00).
