Marcus Thuram netted the fastest ever goal in Champions League semi-final history to give Inter a shock lead against Barcelona but the first-half belonged to the generational talent of Lamine Yamal.

The 17-year-old prodigy was in sensational form after Thuram scored with a brilliant back-heel after 30 seconds and Denzel Dumfries had doubled the visitors’ advantage on 21-minutes with an equally emphatic finish.

Yamal responded almost immediately, dragging his side back into the tie with a sublime solo effort before rattling the crossbar just moments later.

Ferran Torres then brought the hosts level shortly before the break, finishing clinically from Raphinha’s header across the box.

The game suddenly had all the hallmarks of an all-timer. And it was the blond-haired teenager on Barca’s right flank who stole the show in what was a breathtaking first-half of football at the Estadi Olímpic Lluis Companys.

It sets up an intriguing second 45 in a game that could signal the fates of both clubs this season. For Inter, they will be looking to salvage some silverware after exiting the Coppa Italia at the hands of city rivals AC Milan and currently trailing Napoli by three points in the race for the Scudetto.

Meanwhile, victory for Barcelona would keep them on course for a treble-winning season. They lifted the Copa del Rey after beating Real Madrid last weekend and top La Liga by four points.
