Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini has said he wants to extend Antony’s stay with the club after the Manchester United winger and his team-mates have focused on the “bigger objective” of reaching the Champions League.
The second-most expensive signing in United’s history has helped Betis hit scintillating form since making his debut on February 2, moving six points shy of fourth place in LaLiga.
“We’ve all seen what Antony has done here,” former Manchester City boss Pellegrini replied when he was asked about the clamour for the 25-year-old to return to Betis after his loan deal finishes, including remarks by playmaker Isco that the signing should be crowdfunded.
“I wish we could do it; it’s not easy, but I wish we could keep the squad as it is because he has adapted very well to the collective game of the team and had important individual [moments].”

“Playing in the Champions League or reaching higher in the competitions we are in would perhaps change the economic situation of the club. Then we will see what is the best squad we are able to have next season, according to that reality.”
