Marcus Rashford has been backed to shine while on loan at Aston Villa by Liverpool boss Arne Slot ahead of their Villa Parl meeting on Wednesday.
Rashford impressed from the bench at the weekend as Villa drew with Ipswich and has an impressive record against Liverpool.
The England forward scored five goals in eight home Premier League appearances against Liverpool for Manchester United – with only Sergio Agüero (7), Thierry Henry (6), and Jamie Vardy (6) managing more home goals against the Reds.
Slot says he expects Rashford to find his old form while on loan at Villa after being impressed with the forward during a pre-season match against United last August.
He said: “The first time I faced him in real life was the USA tour in pre-season and I was impressed. I was really impressed how fast he is, how he has a nice height and is comfortable with the ball, so I think he is a very good player.
“I hope for him that he is going to show that at Villa.
“Of course I am not hoping that he will do this tomorrow but I would be completely surprised if a player of his quality is not going to show it because he is a very good player in my opinion.”
Rashford is without a goal since the start of December. Liverpool would go 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League with a win at Villa Park.
